Russia now with Bagnoli

bagnoli danieleThe Russian Volleyball Federation has named Daniele Bagnoli as new head coach of the men´s national team. Bagnoli signed two years contract with RVF.

 

 

Italian Bagnoli, currently Dinamo Moscow head coach, will take the helm for the next two years. The previous men´s coach was Vladimir Alekno. Bagnoli was unanimously appointed by the 25-strong RVF Board of Administration. The Board also defined the main goals for the seasons to come. For the men´s team, this is a gold medal at the 2009 European Championships and to reach the final of the 2010 FIVB World Championships.

Bagnoli will finish the ongoing season with his respective club before working exclusively for the national teams according to the clauses included in the contracts they signed with the RVF. Dagniele Bagnoli comments: "It was one of the conditions. In 2009 and 2010 I will fully focus on the work with the Russian national team."

"So far I do not know who will be my assistant. But I intent to invite Russian specialist to be my assistant coach. National team will be divided in two parts in summer. One, under my leadership will participate in the World League. The other will train with my assistant,"
said D. Bagnoli

The 55-year-old Bagnoli is considered as one of the most successful Volleyball coaches ever, having won the Italian national league eight times (six times with Sisley Treviso), plus many more trophies, including five European Champions Leagues and two CEV Cups. He moved to Moscow to start working with Dinamo in the 2007/08 season. He heads a national team for the first time with this new appointment.
