Zenit Kazan best in Russia

Kazan continues to collect gold medals in Russia. Following the titles in football and hockey also Zenit Kazan celebrate the victory in the volleyball league. After the triumph in Champions league last year coach Vladimir Alekno came to the team. Fourth place in the regular season and qualification for play-off were the first goals.

Kazan faced Iskra Odintsovo in the final series. Odintsovo had a advantage of first home game. But Kazan sensationally won the first match 3:0. The second final match spectators could see exellent volleyball. The battle finished in favor of Kazan, 3:2 and 2-0 for Kazan. Zenit also started well in the third game, Iskra was out of rhytm for the first two sets. In the begining of third set Iskra was 7-2 ahead of Kazan. That was enough to win the third set. Decisive fourth set was full of thrilling actions. Both teams played the best volleyball they could. The result was tight 18-18 but the opposite of Kazan A. Cheremisin took the end of game in his hands and brought Kazan the victory in the series.
