When did you start playing volleyball?
I started to play volleyball when I was 13 years old in Ukraine ! it was a sport school, one of the best in Ukraine
Is there a sports tradition in the family?
Of course.. My father was volleyball player with huge carrier in Greece and Brazil and my grandfather was a soccer player he won the Bronze Medal with Soviet Team at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich Olympic Games 1972 in Munich. I have also taken this path of an athlete in the family
What are Olympiakos plans for the season?
Look Olympiacos is a very big team and the objectives are always going to be big, we must win the Championship and the Cup and get as far as we can in the Challenge Cup.
What are your International volleyball plans?
We will now play a Pre-Olympic tournament with 2 big teams like France and Germany. With a good squad of players that have a lot of experience, we will see but I think we will play our best and everything is in our hands so that is also good.
Most memorable moment?
Of course my first season at Olympiacos! We won all the trophies and I won the last point of the last final game against Iraklis! AMAZING
Moment you would like to forget?
I think my career is not so big and there is a lot of time left so at the moment there is nothing I would like to forget.
What is the most important thing for a volleyball player?
Every position has its importance. For a setter like me I think we must have a feel of the game and how the game is going.
What are you looking at improving?
Nobody is perfect so I am looking to improve in all skills and day by day be better and better.
Advice for young volleyball players? and
Life is a game and just LOVE TO PLAY VOLLEY...If you really love it just play!
Apart from volleyball what other sports do you like and what team do you support?
Ooooo I am a big fan of football and basketball. Here in Olympiacos we have the opportunity to watch the UEFA Champions League games the football team plays so of course we support them!!
Who is your idol?
My idol is my father Yuriy Filippov ...
What volleyball players do you look up to?
In my position I like the game of Lloy Ball...He is a great player.
How important is family support in the life of an athelete?
Family plays a big roll in your career because they are like the closest people to you. They help you in difficult situations and they are happy with you in good situations.
What goals have you set yourself for this season?
I will do my best and give 100% to win everything with Olympiacos and of course my dream is to play in one of the best Championships like the Italian and Russian Leagues.
What is it like playing for one of the best clubs in Europe?
Of course it is a big deal, the organization is perfect the fans are great, I can tell you our fans are the best in Europe
What is it like playing in the Greek League?
Greek league is very strong because we have I think 5 teams that are at the same level and its good for all Greek Volleyball. A lot of young players are playing and it’s also good for national team.
What has been the best advice you have received as a volleyball player?
PLAY WITH HEART!!!
