Ladies Night

Written by Volleyballhugger on Tuesday, 29 November 2011.

The CEV Women’s Champions League starts again this week after a long break. After missing the first two weeks of the men’s tournament I cannot wait to get back to watching some games this week.

Serbian warriors inspired by Rocky Balboa

Written by Jiri Popelka on Wednesday, 05 October 2011.

In Serbian national volleyball team the players are not only stars and famous players, the players are also great warriors. As we could see already in Sydney 2000. There were something special about them, I had a feeling they fight with their skills, body and warrior soul. The same way as Rocky Balboa.

The Creme de la Creme of European Volleyball

Written by Volleyballhugger on Wednesday, 21 September 2011.

Last week Austria and Czech Republic hosted the spectacle that is the EuroVolley. As an avid fan and volleyball writer/blogger/commentator/gun for hire I had the privilege of attending a number of games. My conclusion: An extremely entertaining, well organized and healthily attended tournament. Major negative: It was difficult to find a lot of coverage on TV or online.

Does volleyball need a little more “razzmatazz”?

Written by Volleyballhugger on Wednesday, 10 August 2011.

Volleyball continues to be going strong this summer and I am sad to admit that I have missed a lot of it over the last month while on holiday. Much to my enjoyment and the annoyance of a lot of people around me I have spent the last fews days reliving plenty of the action on FIVB web tv and I am now paying the price with an intensive clean-up operation of the aftermath of my “all volleyball – no housework” binge. Missed the World League?

The dream team

Written by Matías Rosa on Thursday, 07 July 2011.

Federico Pereyra told me that Argentina was prepared to be the surprise in World League Finals and, sincerely I thought that he was full of positivity and confidence. May be a dream. Even that, the victory over Italy let me think different about the young and talented argentine national team.

Its all (volley) balls

Written by Volleyballhugger on Friday, 24 June 2011.

Brazil is the talkig point of the volleyball world at the moment after the men and women impressively took all the spoils in Rome! For the first time in a long time I have to admit that the last few days have been a welcome break from volleyball, the world championships was a volleyball overload, the kind of which I haven’t experienced in a long time.

Smack my beach up

Written by Volleyballhugger on Wednesday, 15 June 2011.

The Swatch World Championships are now underway and it is going to be a hell of a week to remember. I tried to get tickets for the event but unfortunately things didn’t work out. But it seems like the volleyball gods are being kind to us at the moment, as it has been announced that all (or almost all) of the matches will be available to watch from day one.

Son of a beach

What a weekend! I cannot tell you how excited I was to here that Finland had beaten Serbia on Friday night. I couldn’t watch it because it was not on TV anywhere (that I knew off) but it filled me with hope and expectation for the FIVB “match of the week” on Saturday evening.

Hello (volleyball) world

I have recently been watching more and more volleyball on the internet, and there is a reason for this. www.laola1.tv has been offering quality volleyball action for some time now, and I have been a fan of their champion’s league coverage for a while.
