In the final match Italian champion did not give any chance to Belchatow and claimed 3-0 (26-24, 25-18, 25-19) victory. Bartosz Kurek could not win the game by himself, even if he score 23 points in three sets. The amazing solid block of the Italian team was the main factor to achieve the victory as they didn’t allow Belchatow to apply their attacking strategy all through the match.
Kurek was the best scorer of tournament. He can beat together with his colleagues many teams, but not Trentino with Vissotto and Kaziyski. The "Trentino duo" were the tournament superstars with their unstoppable spikes that penetrated the opponent block from all net positions.
Zenit Kazan break all the borders to clinch a straight sets victory over Paykan 25-13, 25-18, 25-16 in the bronze medal match of the 2009 Men’s Club World Championship. Zenit wing spiker Maxim Pantelemonenko and the opposite Alexey Cheremisin were the match stars with the blockers Alexander Abrosimov and Nikolai Apalikov who didn’t allow Iran team to penetrate and enter the match any time through the three sets.
Prior to the final, the FIVB organized a second seminar to evaluate the new rule - Golden Formula, which has been trialed at the FIVB 2009 Men’s Club World Championships. The meeting discussed through the statistics made during the competition, the value of the new rule in the elongation of the rallies. The FIVB experts had their own opinion about the role of the Golden formula in increasing the rate of the backline attacks but on the other hand decreasing the work of the middle blockers in the quick attacks. The discussion put also on table the increased number of backline jumps for the attackers and opposites from the coaches’ side and the possibility of increasing the rate of injuries between those players. The setters described their new role in terms of the decreased number of combinations in the first rally then the return back to use all the tools starting from the following rallies.
