Kay van Dijk: V-player.com is completely my own idea

I found on internet your site v-player.com. Why did you decide to make your own site and what is it about?
I decided to start with V-Player.com because I wanted to bring a lot of top volleyball players in one exclusive spot together. People always want to stay in touch, they want to communicate freely and V-Player.com is also a spot where they can benefit from each other. Promote your business that you already have, create your network that you might need for business later on after your career, just a place where the Top Players of the world can benefit from a lot of extra services specially designed for them.

Were you influenced by some similar sites or it is your own idea?
This site is complete my own idea after the idea popped in my head that facebook was becoming too big and too much of a disturbance by social control from journalists, managers, supporters and other people on facebook. I wanted to create a place which is exclusive for the players, with certain privileges. Got some help from a friend of mine with some ideas and I started to create the website by myself. Now after 1,5 years of preparing and 4 months online I have my own social Community with over 250 players.

What is the goal of v-player.com?
The Goal of V-Player is to create a exclusive place just for the players. Only the top level Players who play all over the world in the highest divisions of their country can enter with exception of France and Italy's A2. Only they can enjoy the services, the promotions, the discounts, stay in contact with your teammates and the option to promote their private business or sell their products among the other players on the network. The main sponsor of the site is ASI, Alliance Sports Investments.

You, in cooperation with other company, offer also personal pages for volleyball players for 39 euro/month. Do you think the players will be interested to have such page?

I think it is very important for the players in these times of crisis where you have to distinguish yourself from other players. I see myself as a company which clubs want to hire. A good personal website is like the perfect visiting card for clubs to see your professionally as a player. With a personal website you will give back to, fans, the club, sponsors, your own promotion, other companies and individual sponsors. 39 euros a month sounds a lot, but look for a individual sponsor for your site and you might even get around 100 euros a month for it. You might actually start making money for after your career with this.


Right now all the promotion, advertising, negotiation of the players are in the hands of volleyball agents and agencies. Don´t you think you aim in their business? Or maybe you become one of them?
I am not aiming for a career in player management, but I already got a lot of requests, from coaches, managers and players. It is nice to see that V-Player.com is already in use of connecting people. The site will have a bigger purpose in the management of players, but that is still a future surprise. We are talking right now with agencies who want to work with me together to get access on the V-Player.com network.

How do you see the future of V-Player.com?
V-Player.com will be the place where linkedin, facebook, ebay and future player management will all come together.
