Six teams has qualified from the 2nd round of European Qualification. Slovakia, Netherlands, France and Greece joined previous qualifiers Estonia and Bulgaria.
Slovakia deserved first place in Pool A. In decisive match against Czech Republic team of E. Zanini won first two set and secured direct pass to Turkey. Slovak head coach Emanuele Zanini admitted they selected good tactics and put up better attacks. “After having won the two sets, we let the other six players enter the court in order to give them the chance to gain a certain international experience”, he added.
Netherlands did not face any big trouble in Pool B. With six victories and just one lost set Netherlands got through qualification. Slovenian opponent in the 3rd round will be Portugal.
Also France qualified easy for the European Championship 2009 in Turkey. Macedonia has to knock down Czech Republic in the 3rd round of qualification to qualify for the European Championship.
Greece finished first in Pool B due to better set ratio. In Belgium Greece lost 3:2, in Athens Greek team outplayed Belgian national team 3:0. Belgium will meet in the 3rd round of European Qualification strong Poland.
