Image Drawing of lots ceremony took place in Tokyo. Teams in four groups of six teams found there opponents. The championship will take place in 10 Japan cities from November 17 to December 3.

First Men´s Volleyball World Championships was arranged in Prague on outside tennis courts in 1949. World Championship was the greatest volleyball event at this time, volleyball was included among olympic sports later. Soviet Union won the first gold medal.
