CEV Cup 2007 rest in Russia

ImageFakel Novy Urengoi is CEV Cup winner. In final match Russian team did not give any chance to Italian Copra Piacenza, Fakel claimed 3:0 victory. Halbank Ankara knocked down Stade Poitevin Poitiers in bronze medal match.

 

 

Fakel Novy Urengoi had big problems to rest in Russian volleyball superleague in 2005. Fakel finished just one point above falling down to second league. From that time the performance of Fakel growing up. Engaging coach Boris Kolchin, national team coach in past, and bringing top players return results. Just three years in Russian Superleague and Fakel won first European cup! B. Kolchin: “I estimated the level of the Italians very high and we knew we were not allowed to relax. The whole team played very concentrated. A special thanks to our Italian legionary Matey Cernic."

Halbank Ankara won 3th place match. First time in european volleyball cups history Turkish team participated in Final Four tournament. “I’m very happy that we were able to win a medal of such a prestigious tournament”, said head coach of Halbank Saleh Yirgin.
