Argentina: Buenos Aires is united as ever

Buenos Aires United is one of the best teams in the A1 Argentine League 2011/12 that starts on October 6th. With Milinkovic and Salmon as the brightest stars, the last bronze medal wants to be champion at the first time.

The squad of Mar del Plata city will be a serious opponent for 2010/11 champion UPCN because will have the advantage to repeat most of the names that classified to semifinals in the last season. Waldo Kantor enjoys to coach many good spikers as captain Marcos Milinkovic (one of the best opposites in his country although he is 39 years old), Cuban Ihosvany Hernández and Guillermo García, but also he will have in the team the American outside hitter Riley Salmon and the young and talented Mariano Giustiniano (member of the National Team in South American Championship). With all these variations, the setter work of Sebastian Firpo will be simplified.

Buenos Aires United is ready to make its dreams come true: the leaders contract middleblocker Gaston Tissera to help Brazilian Andre Ratke in the center of the net and renewed the link with libero Martin Meana to look back his partners.

Riley Salmon, the new face of the group, said he likes to play fast and has high expectations to do well this season: "I help a lot to my teammates and I want to win. I had a bad season last year (in Spain ) and want to show my skills. I want to play well for this team and win everything. "

Mar del Plata city will organize the fist ACLAV official tournament in the 2011/12 seasson: Masters Cup, the one that joins the champions of the previous seasson. This time, Buenos Aires United (2010 Super 8 champion), UPCN (A1 League champion), Boca Juniors (ACLAV Cup champion) and Formosa Union (ACLAV Cup runner up) will play a Play off tournament. Drean Bolivar (A1 League runner up) was invited but will travel this Thursday to United States to play in the Irvine International Volleyball Championship.
